New Berlin Couple Sentenced in Abuse Case

(Waukesha) -- 56-year-old Linda Stephens will serve hard time for being a bad mom. The mother of 16 is locked up, and her bail has been taken away. The New Berlin mom was sentenced Wednesday to 3 years in prison and eight years probation, for failing to stop her husband from beating their 13-year-old son.

The judge called Stephens a long time manipulator, and he called her husband, Thomas, a victim of her wrath and twisted love.  Thomas Stephens already served about a year in county jail on work release and will be there until October.

The judge stayed another possible 7 years in jail for Linda Stephens, on 4 neglect charges and check forgery.

The judge ordered both parents to have nothing to do with their 16 children unless the adult children want future contact.

Three of the Stephens' children are still minors and are in foster care.
